Girl Scouts of Northern California (GSNorCal) is seeking a Data & Analytics Manager to join our Business Operations team and drive the success of our Council's data approach. Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Operations, the Data & Analytics Manager will improve business processes and user adoption using the platform and Girl Scouts of the USA's new business intelligence tool, Looker, which is used by data-driven companies such as Google, Amazon, Warby Parker and Spotify.

This role directly manages a staff team and is responsible for developing information-driven insights from various systems, ensuring data integrity of the Salesforce org, and managing ongoing data needs (such as data entry and uploads, cleanup, evaluation, validation and troubleshooting).

This position will create and execute a plan for improving end-user data literacy , holding tactical training sessions on all reporting platforms, informative sessions on the importance of data, critical thinking with data, and best practices for getting and using meaningful data.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of relational databases and the use of the native Salesforce reporting tool as well as business intelligence tools.


1) Reporting and Analysis:

+ Coordinate and establish business processes:

+ Identify new reports and opportunities to sunset and/or consolidate existing reports

+ Identify trainings to drive user adoption

+ Forecast membership

+ Increase company performance

+ Evaluate and scope new report requests from end users.

+ Maintain an effective and active report library.

+ Provide analysis on available data through reports and narratives.

+ Create professional reports for presentations.

+ Create appropriate and meaningful reports for use by staff.

+ Define and document data structure and usage.

+ Upload data from various external systems.

2) Development and Training:

+ Develop and implement data literacy training curriculum for GSNorCal staff.

+ Provide ongoing training on proper data entry and use of Salesforce and Looker to foster greater data literacy.

+ Train end users on report usage and creation when appropriate.

+ Create cross system data governance model to help with data consistency.

3) Research and Troubleshooting:

+ Troubleshoot problems in report creation or data entry with end users.

+ Research inconsistent or missing data.

+ Partner with Girl Scouts of USA on functional issues of Salesforce and Looker and escalate when necessary.

+ Champion use of data to research and create strategic responses.

+ Support data entry as needed.

4) Database Department Management

+ Supervise the Database Manager and Database Specialist:

+ Ensure goal and basework alignment.

+ Establish standards and procedures.

+ Supervise work and provide individual coaching and mentorship.

+ Manage individual performance.

+ Provide guidance in database management and keep abreast of industry standards and best practices.

+ Lead the database team in the successful execution of goals, objectives, and systems.

5) Senior Leadership Team Member

+ Participate as an active member of GSNorCal's Senior Leadership Team, contributing thought leadership and influencing and driving council-level decision-making and prioritization.

Required Experience:

+ Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience working on the Salesforce platform in a data/analytical role in the customer experience domain.

+ Expert in relational databases and proven troubleshooting methods for resolving object interconnected inconsistencies.

+ Experience with business intelligence tools.

+ Strong data visualization skills.

+ Ability to assess and develop training curriculum catered to a broad range of users.

+ Strong analytical thinking and decision making skills.

+ Excellent project management skills.

+ Proven ability to design and implement reports on the platform.

+ Curiosity for data and expressing findings via reports, narratives or data models.

+ Knowledge of statistics and strong application of mathematical thinking.

+ Excellent computer skills. Advanced proficiency in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) with an emphasis on the use of Excel and Access for advanced reporting. Ability to learn new online tools and databases quickly.

+ Ability to work in a team and independently.

+ High attention to detail and highly organized. Ability to meet deadlines effectively in a changing work environment.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to communicate across multiple channels to internal departments and external vendors.

+ Strong attention to detail and proven data entry accuracy.

+ Certified Salesforce Administrator

+ Experience with Looker

+ Experience with SQL

+ Experience with R from the R Project for Statistical Computing and/or IBM SPSS

+ Knowledge of NGO Connect Product

+ Knowledge of/experience in the Girl Scout Movement
