**Job Summary**

In this position, you will use your mechanical engineering skills to envision and design apparatus to measure, manipulate and test mechanical systems. You will work with third party vendors to realize your vision. Once realized you will verify the proper performance of the apparatus. The ideal candidate is a competent automated equipment and fixture designer with an understanding of heat transfer and complex systems. You will work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop complex systems.

**Key Qualifications**

* MS preferred and 8+ years of related experience.

* Specification, test and troubleshooting of mixed signal systems at system level.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly present data to cross-functional teams and to non-experts.

* Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

* Ability to analyze and criticize existing and new designs and propose suitable solutions for issues.

* Relies on data to justify technical decisions.

* Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues and justify technical decisions.

* Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and entrepreneurial spirit.

* Competent in using a variety of productivity tools.

* Ability to work in close cooperation with a cross-functional teams of professionals. Experience in design and implementation of apparatus.

* Experience with CAD (NX or SolidWorks preferred) and mechanical modeling tools.

* Effective in performing detailed mechanical design reviews.

* Hands on experience in troubleshooting complex mechanical apparatus at the component level.

* Proficiency with off-the-shelf and custom equipment like load frames, measuring microscopes and other metrology tools.

* Proficiency in electrical metrology and high accuracy instrumentation design.

* Development and validation of high accuracy and high reliability test equipment.

* Experience in FMEA and fault tree analysis.

* Knowledge and experience with 6 sigma design practices.

* Knowledge in statistical analysis.

* Experience with sheet metal design

* Experience making drawings for fabrication**Description**

oCollect requirements and write detailed specifications to satisfy these requirements.

oPresent specifications to vendor(s).

oDesign and develop test fixtures, rigs, or frames

oDevelop CAD models for test systems

oReview design proposals, CAD, prints, models, etc.

oDevelop detailed design validation plans.

oExecute design validation activity and determine if apparatus meets specifications.

oUncover design related issues and communicate them clearly to the team and vendor(s).

oWork closely with other engineers and technicians.

oWork in close cooperation with a cross-functional team of professionals.

oPresent mechanical and thermal verification data and analysis.
