This SUPERVISORY SPACE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST position, is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Space Operations Squadronand is part of the CA 216 SPCS, National Guard.

**NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:** This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
**MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES:**Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).

### Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the SUPERVISORY SPACE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-0301-12, is to serve as a first level supervisor and provide advanced technical training and instruction for a space squadron. Incumbent performs mission execution and a variety of supervisory staff functions including Operations, Standardization and Evaluation, Training, and Weapons and Tactics. Provides accurate and timely analysis critical to the effectiveness of unit operations and survivability of unit resources.

***MILITARY REQUIREMENTS***:
**Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement**. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. ***Priority Areas(s) of Consideration:***
**AREA I** = Current California National Guard technicians who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary dual status appointment.
**AREA II** = Current California National Guard members.
**AREA III** = Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty.
(Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the Air Force California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment.)

***CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:***
Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.
Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.
Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

### Qualifications
**General Experience**: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems.
**Supervisory Space Operations Specialist, GS-0301-12:**Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions; Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations; Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures; Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations; Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

### Education
**Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience:** Completion of courses such as the Officer Advanced Course, Squadron Officer School, Command and Staff College, Air and Army War College, National Security Management Course and others of comparable level will be credited at the rate of 1 month of education for two months of specialized experience.
**To receive credit for Substitution of Education, you must provide a certificate and/or transcripts.**
